A thousand thank yous!

likeable-blog-1000-1xWhile I’ve been busy with the Malaysia project, Every Day Adventures in Asia (Mostly!) crossed the 1,000 comments (and likes) threshold!

That friends, family and complete strangers take the trouble to read AND share their thoughts too – I am most appreciative – truly!

There is only one request – keep doing it!

Zero to Hero Week 4: Final stretch… take 2!

Aaakh! Have you ever accidentally hit publish!?! Instantly realized the error and deleted a post?

What happened? I scheduled several posts, was making a few last edits and hit “Update” button… except oops! In this case, had barely started the draft let alone ready to “publish”…. gulp! DELETE!!

So now, as well as being late to WordPress’s “Zero to hero: 30 Days to a Better Blog” have a blogging blooper to recover from too! (more…)

Zero to Hero Week 2: Trying new things (blog stuff)

As shared, I’m rather late to WordPress’s “Zero to hero: 30 Days to a Better Blog” so attempting to fast-track my way through select steps. This is a compressed version of the 2nd week… For the 1st week, check here.

3rd Quarter Summary

Nine months ago, if I’d got ‘knocked up’, we’d be saying “It’s a girl/boy!”

Instead, I’m delighted to celebrate “It’s a blog!” as “Every Day Adventures in Asia (Mostly)” reaches its 3rd quarter – yipee!

I gotta admit though, this quarter didn’t exactly turn out as planned…

I expected to be in Jakarta and couldn’t wait to explore more of that amazing city and other parts of Indonesia! While I was busy with the Indonesian project til 2nd week December, most work was done remotely in Mumbai. With a shift in business model and priorities, there won’t be future trips for this client… sigh… however ‘fingers crossed’ more projects will come that involve travel!

  • My partner had a film shoot planned in Budapest in December. Seemed a great excuse to spend some time in Europe – I had dreams of joining for a bit, pop over to Prague to see a dear friend, amble on to Amsterdam for another friend’s new nightclub opening. Alas, the film hit a snag and…. again sigh… no news on if/when either the film shoot will happen or where.
  • With these developments, we decided to stay put, revelling in the delights and distractions Mumbai always has on offer – not such a bad thing. 🙂

As for the blog, this quarter hit some cool milestones: (more…)

Dragon’s Loyalty Award

The Dragon’s Loyalty Award is for the loyal fan/commenter – as the kind soul who nominated me “Nair View” put it:

“Regularly. Stalker-like. The more you stalk, the better your chances are for winning this award.”

How fabulous is anything that celebrates blogging faffery? It may be like “chain-mail,” but at least it doesn’t threaten dire consequences if not followed precisely by a certain time! Instead it is a chance to say “Hey – you’ve been really cool to chat with!” and gives others a nudge to discover more great blogs to read and comment. (more…)

Trophy Accident – Celebrating 100 Followers

I’m still a complete neophyte when it comes to navigating the wonderful world of WordPress and blogging features. Only today when going through the Reader did I notice a funny little thing labelled “Trophy Case” on the right hand column.

I clicked on the link to discover that since 23 Sept 2013 there are 100 fabulous folks following this blog. How the heck did that happen?

Thanks folks!

Followers (23 Sept 2013)

And because I’m a little slow… between this “Trophy” and today, apparently we’re up to 114 followers, augmented by an additional 60 through Twitter.

So thanks folks, keep following, commenting, liking and most importantly reading and publishing your own blogs! Good luck to you achieving a happy milestone when not looking!

Happy 1st October!

Shine On Award!

shine-on-awardWith the recent project in Jakarta, I’ve been struggling to make time to do anything other than work. So it took a trip home to Mumbai and a little breathing space to say – “Thank you Gina of the fabulous A 4star life for the Shine On Award nomination!”

I can’t miss your blog and its in my “all time favourites” like Zhongguo Jumble, Kiwi Gypsy, Lady of the Cakes, Ottominuti – You folks are my blogging idols!

To accept the award, I need to share random 7 facts about myself (different to earlier award – Liebster) and nominate 15 other blogs I enjoy reading. If I’ve nominated you (ie blogs below), feel free to ‘accept’ and pass on the joy to others! (more…)

1st Quarter Summary

Egads!? It’s been three whole months since I began this blog! Inspired by Zhonggou Jumble, I decided to introduce a summary covering a few highlights (and likely some lowlights too) for each quarter.

“And in the beginning…” I was encouraged my many friends in many places to share every day stories and observations about life in India, work in Asia, and reflect on a variety of experiences from the mundane to the remarkable. This blog is the result.

What I hadn’t expected, yet is hugely enriching, is virtually ‘meeting’ an amazing community of bloggers. Your stories inspire me further, make me laugh, sigh and I especially love it when contemplating a particular topic… up pops a blog about that very thing by another blogger with his or her own distinct perspective and interesting insights.
