I cannot even begin to describe the amazing pleasure it is to FINALLY have our home back! No lingering construction work, no workers crap cluttering our balcony, no walls waiting for plastering, no unfinished painting to be done. Nada!!
The work only began on our building in March 2015. And was only supposed to take 2-3 months. Hmmm….
We aren’t yet truly ‘home free’ as work continues on other flats so we still contend daily with the whir and whine, pound and bang, however our home is blissfully worker free. And back to normal!!

Our ‘blue room’ aka music, study, TV, guest room
And bonus? We also put pigeon netting around all our balconies to keep the birds out and our kitten in. She is delighted with her new jungle and window on the world outside our flat.

Deep in the jungles of Bandra Reclamation, the wild Zoe may be spotted in her potted plant habitat
As for the exterior of the building? Who knows!
For now, we are just going to celebrate getting our home back!!!

Yay! So happy for you!
It almost doesn’t seem real. 🙂
Aw, how lovely for Zoe to have access to the “outside”. Is she still looking for… erm… adult entertainment…?
She’s no longer quite such an attention slut. 🙂 Just ‘normal’ entertainment suffices… he he!
Plenty of that to be had on the balcony, I bet 🙂
She has a blast – three balconies, dirt to get messy in, bugs to pounce on, sunshine to bathe in, birds to dream of catching, mesh to climb, plants to play in… it is a wonder she still equally enjoys coming indoors to hang out with her humans too!
Oh congratulations that you have your home back. I hope that there won’t be any surprises and suddenly the workers are back again :p
Perish the thought!!
Lucky girl! I wish our renovations were finished. Sigh.
You poor, poor thing!! Good luck surviving!!
It’ll be worth it in the end with updated bathrooms, kitchen and actual closet space. 🙂
Ooooh closet space!! We have what’s called an ‘almariya’ i.e. a cupboard unit as there are NO closets in our entire flat.
Already went through the headache of building a kitchen unit when we moved in – there was only a slab of granite shelf and gas pipe. Literally nothing else – not a single shelf, drawer, storage space of any kind!
Serious sympathies coming your way!!!
YAY and congrats! construction and reconstruction is often frustrating, but the one which takes almost a year…
The short answer to that is our building is fundamentally structurally unsound. Which means if we lived in a part of the world with strict standards, it would likely torn down and rebuilt.
But here in India it means every so often the building is repaired externally and internally to keep it standing. If we stick around long enough, will go through another round too!
It is always nice to get some work done, but it is better when it is finished and you can sit back and enjoy it. Enjoy your newly renovated place!!
It is bliss to have our home back!! 🙂
